Let’s spread positivity on International Men’s Day!
International Men’s Day is a very important day of the year where we can focus on the positive values of men and how we can support men’s mental health. Many people mistake this day as something that can be toxic, namely because men already seem to have a “voice”. But in reality, it’s a day for us to consider these male stereotypes and what we can do to break them.
It’s time to celebrate positivity that men have to offer in the world and the qualities that should be passed between the generations. Here at Gowing Law, we believe in equality. No matter your race, gender or sexuality, if you have recently been involved in an accident that was not your fault, Gowing Law Solicitors will be here to support you through it. We will make sure that you get the compensation you deserve.

What is International Men’s Day?
On the 19th November, International Men’s Day is celebrated in order to give light to issues that men experience on a daily basis. 2020 has not been a good year for anyone. With Covid-19 and the second lockdown in play, this has put a lot of a lot vulnerable people at risk. This includes young, homeless men and children.
Did you know that the suicide rate of men is actually 3 times higher than that of women? On average, men are actually more likely to die around 4-5 years earlier than women. Men’s mental health is extremely important to talk about. There are still toxic stereotypes around that insinuate that men should not express their emotions and instead should be able to handle anything that life throws at them. This is why when men go through a difficult situation, such as domestic violence, they may not feel comfortable enough to inform people or the appropriate authorities about it. 1 in 3 men end up being victims of domestic violence. That’s why it is important that we have a day to speak about these issues, in order to let men be heard.
Remember that there will always be someone here to listen to you if you are struggling with your mental health. We would recommend any of the following men’s mental health charities:
What is Gowing Law doing for International Men’s Day?
Here at Gowing Law, we believe in equality for everyone. That’s why we are determined to get the justice for all of our clients. In order to bring awareness to International Men’s Day, Gowing Law has decided to host a giveaway to encourage our clients to talk about the positive male role models in their own lives. You can learn more about this on our Twitter and Facebook.
To win a Ted Baker: Tin and Trick’s Toiletries Set, all you need to do is share with us a role model in your life who would deserve the prize, like and share our post and tag us @GowingLaw. You will then be entered into the giveaway. The deadline for this competition is the 19th November 2020. Make sure to get involved by checking out our socials! If you have any questions then let us know. We would be more than happy to help.
If you also check out our blog, you will find that we have also created some content in order to bring light to some issues about toxic male stereotypes and gender in the work place. In particular, male workers and work accidents. Did you know that 75% of male labourers make accident work claims? This is because they end up in riskier environments that may not have all of the safety checks of an office environment. If you want to learn more about the risks of being a male worker and work accidents claims, make sure to check out our International Men’s Day blog. Not only have that, but if you have experienced a work accident yourself, be sure to come to Gowing Law in order to get the compensation that you deserve. Click the link below to find out more:
