Harry entered the supermarket in Manchester, to purchase his weekly shop. As he walked along the aisles, gathering his items, he fell on a wet floor that was not signposted. To catch his fall, he reached for an aisle shelf, which consequently fell on top of him.

His resulting injury was a torn Achilles tendon which left him with a visit to the local hospital and a 6 week lay off from work.

Being involved in a car accident abroad is never nice or wanted. Here is a handy guide showing the process of what to do if this happens to you. If your accident is outside the European Union, the process may differ.

What are your rights?

Your rights are governed by the EU Motor Insurance Directives, making it much easier for you to claim for an accident abroad.

What to do?

Contact the police

The local police should always be your first call if you are involved in a car crash abroad. In most countries, the police must attend any accident involving a foreign vehicle.

Documentation you need to produce

Do not sign or accept any liability other than the European Accident Statement or Constat Amiable. This document is to ensure that all parties to the accident exchange relevant information and agree how the accident happened. You must get a copy of this and be understanding of the other parties written statement.

You will be asked to produce:

Your driving licence;

The registration document for the vehicle to provide ownership;

Your insurance certificate or Green Card (this proves your minimum insurance cover for the country you are driving in – ask your insurer for this prior to travel and check your level of cover for the duration of your trip)

Contact your insurer

Immediately contact your insurer in the event of an accident. They will provide you with relevant contact information dependant on the severity of the incident.

Mum suffers damage from bleaching

A mum is paying the price for spending years colouring and bleaching her hair at home – after being left with a bald crown.

Sarah says she was dyeing her trying different hair shades. She commented that she has been various colours over the years but this time it left her completely devastated after her latest trip to the hairdressers.Over a course of time, she has been left with sparse, bald patches and thinning hair. It has left her feeling uncomfortable leaving home due the trauma caused by her appearance after the event.

A specialist found that the product used had created a reaction on her scalp which led to the fall out of hair and skin irritation.

Man suffers stab wounds in North London

A man was stabbed in North London, prompting Scotland Yard to launch another knife crime investigation.

Police and paramedics found the seriously injured man, who had been attacked on a busy street in the early evening. He was rushed to hospital where he needed numerous stitches to provide life saving treatment.

The man stabbed, was a victim of a vicious attack that was unprovoked and has lead to the conviction of two men, who admit not knowing him.

This has led to time away from work being unable to support his family.
